How I can help

Relief from everyday aches and pains

Most people come to me with muscular aches and pains, typically in the back, neck, shoulders, hips and legs. What they want is simple: less pain and more mobility.

My clients include retirees, athletes, tradies, young mums, and people sent by their health professional. Whoever walks through the door, I listen first.

  • Finding the exact spots in your muscles that you may not know are tight
  • You leave more comfortable than when you arrived

About Roger

From plants to people

After 30 years in horticulture, I wanted a change: from working with plants to doing something useful for people.

I've been practising massage in Orewa since 2010. Clients tell me they value how I listen, and how I can find the exact spots in a muscle they didn't know were tight. I'm a male therapist and I give a firmer massage, but my aim is always the same: that you leave more comfortable than you arrived.

What I'm most proud of is helping people pursue their goals and enjoy a better quality of life.

Getting outdoors and giving back

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me outside. My interests include:

  • Volunteering with Friends of Regional Parks
  • Conserving native trees and birds
  • Tramping in the great outdoors
  • Chasing waterfalls

I also love giving back to our community. So far I've completed four local walks for charity. The most recent was 65 km in a single day for Friends of Regional Parks. The others were for Adults in Motion (50 km around the Orewa Estuary, raising more than $3,000), the CYC Trust at Whangaparaoa, and TimeOut, a national charity.

The treatment room

From stormy to glowing

The photograph on my treatment-room wall is one of my own. Look from right to left and the sky moves from heavy cloud into warm, glowing light.

That's what I hope for my clients while they're here: that you arrive carrying the weight of the day, and leave feeling lighter, more comfortable and more like yourself.

Reviews

What clients say

Roger is amazing! He is a fully qualified massage therapist and has a world of knowledge and experience. I had been going to acupuncture and physiotherapy for 18 months for a torn rotator cuff, when a friend said that massage had helped them a lot for recovery. I went to Roger twice over a 2 week period, and was astonished at how fast he had healed my rotator cuff… I had not been able to lift my arm past my waist for 18 months, which had become a real nuisance not to mention very painful.

Anyway, that was almost 5 years ago now, and I have been seeing Roger for massages fortnightly ever since. If I do not go for my scheduled massage I definitely start to feel it in my body. Roger always has interesting conversation, and has a lot of inspiring things to say about nature as he's an avid nature lover. Thanks Roger for always being so professional and always giving your best.
